Assigning IP Address with ARP

Use the following procedure to use ARP to configure the IP address.
1. From Windows, enter the MS/DOS box.
2. At the command prompt enter:
(a)
ping [any valid IP address on your network - not the print server].
The identified unit should reply. If you do not ping the network, the
arp cache will be empty (no static entries), and you will receive an
error 2 message (after performing the next step).
(b)
arp -s [IP address of the NC-2 Print Server]
[MAC Address of the NC-2 Print Server]
The entry should be accepted. You will receive an error 3 message
if our Remote Access Software (RAS) is installed.
(c)
ping [IP address of the NC-2 Print Server].
The request should time out.
3. Recycle the power on the print server. The NC-2 Print Server will
produce a status page that should include the entered IP address.
4. When the NC-2 Print Server is up again, type the following at the
command prompt:
(a)
ping [IP address of the NC-2 Print Server]
Continue until you get a reply.
NOTE: This only enters the IP address. You must use the Network Management Utility to
enter the other IP parameters.
