UNIX Printing Through TCP/IP

Windows NT Instructions

Windows NT (version 3.5 or higher) comes with TCP/IP and lpr capabili-
ties, although these must be installed when the unit is configured. You must
install the TCP/IP Protocol, Simple TCP/IP Services, and Microsoft TCP/IP
UNIX Printing prior to entering the network printer on the workstation.
NOTE: Once you have lpr installed on a Windows NT Server workstation
and have allowed printer sharing, other workstations may use the printer
through the Microsoft Windows Network without having to have separate
lpr queues installed on each workstation.

Setting Up the NC-2 Print Server

The NC-2 Print Server must be given an IP address and routing information
before being used with TCP/IP.
This can be done with the Network Management Utility for Windows if you
have a NetWare connection on your network, or with Apple Administration
Program for Macintosh if there is an Apple Macintosh on the network.
If you cannot use these programs, you can use either the ntBOOTP
program or the ARP procedure. To use ntBOOTP, you will need the
ntBOOTP.exe file. This file is on the Network Management Utility for
Windows diskettes supplied with the Print Server. Please contact the
authorized dealer.
1. Install the NC-2 Print Server in your printer.
2. Power up the printer.
NOTE: Keep the status sheet handy for the Ethernet (MAC) address. It should show that
TCP/IP is enabled but that the Protocol address is not configured. If the unit already has an
IP address, these procedures will not work. Use the ntBOOTP Program or any standard
Internet Web Browser to change the IP parameters.
