PERFORMANCE CHECK AND
ADJUSTMENT
Introduction
This section contains information necessary to perform a
complete instrument performance check and adjustment.
Limits given in the procedure are adjustment guides and
should not be interpreted as performance requirements un-
less preceded by a check mark
( v ) .
Where possible, instru-
ment performance is checked before an adjustment is
made.
PRELIMINARY INFORMATION

the complete adjustment procedure, make each adjustment
to the exact setting indicated.
Partial Procedures. The following procedure is written to
completely check and adjust the instrument to the Perfor-
mance Requirements listed in Section 1, Specification. If the
applications for which the instrument is used do not require
the full available performance, the procedures and the re-
quired equipment list can be shortened accordingly.

Using This Procedure
This Performance Check and Adjustment procedure can
be used for a complete adjustment procedure or as a check
of the instrument's performance. Completion of each step in
the procedure ensures that the instrument is correctly ad-
justed and operating within specified limits. Refer to the fol-
lowing discussion for instructions on a complete or partial
check and adjustment.
Performance Check. Instrument performance can be
checked by performing the complete Performance Check
and Adjustment procedure and omitting only the ADJUST
part of the steps. A check mark

specified in Section 1, Specification.
Adjustment. Completion of each step in the Perfor-
mance Check and Adjustment procedure ensures that the

The test equipment listed in Table 4-1 is required for a
complete performance check and adjustment of this instru-
ment. The specifications given in Table 4-1 for test equip-
ment are the minimum required to meet the Performance
Requirements listed in Section 1, Specification. Detailed op-
erating instructions for test equipment are omitted in this
procedure. Refer to the test equipment instruction manual if
more information is needed.
Special Fixtures
Special fixtures are used only where they facilitate instru-
ment adjustment. These fixtures are available from
Tektronix, Inc.; order by part number from Tektronix Field
Off ices or representatives.
