SELECTION LINE: Service & Maintenance Manual - rev. 4.0

5.12. THERE IS PLAY ON ROTARY TORSO LEVER

5.12.1. ALREADY-INSTALLED MACHINES

A modification has been introduced to correct the problem of excessive play on the Rotary Torso
lever, which occurred at the point where the 2 parts of the lever are joined together.
To correct the problem on already-installed machines without implementing the above modification,
it is possible to proceed as described below:
1. Lift up the rubber cover (0G0064) until the pins and the joint of the lever are exposed. This
operation can be facilitated by moistening the area with alcohol. DO NOT USE OIL which is
difficult to remove, leaves residues and results in unstable positioning of the rubber cover.
2. With the 2 parts of the lever inserted, enlarge only one d10 hole using an 11.5 mm or 11.75 drill
bit.
WARNING: A smaller hole makes assembly more difficult. A larger hole is
counterproductive, as it may introduce new play between the parts.
3. Insert a Spirol pin 12x65 UNI 8750 (code 0ZS00101AA) into the newly enlarged hole, allowing
it to protrude by equal amounts (about 2.5mm) from either end of the tube.
It is important to enlarge only one hole, and immediately insert the pin before enlarging
the second hole; otherwise the two levers may shift, causing the newly enlarged holes for
the pins to become misaligned.
4. Enlarge the second d10 hole using an 11.5 mm or 11.75 drill bit.
5. Insert a Spirol pin 12x65 UNI 8750 (code 0ZS00101AA) into the second enlarged hole,
allowing it to protrude by equal amounts (about 2.5mm) from either end of the tube.
The pin is longer than the tube diameter to ensure that the area in contact with the tube
thickness is a cylindrical segment of the pin, and protrudes equally from either end to
achieve the above condition.
6. Lower the rubber cover until the reference mark on the cover (a small triangle on the outside) is
aligned with the special hole on the lever (it can be useful to moisten the area with alcohol. DO
NOT USE OIL). To facilitate this manoeuvre, use a screwdriver to lift up the edges of the
rubber cover when it comes into contact with the protruding part of the pin.
WARNING: After completing the operation, the rubber cover will bulge out slightly at
the point coinciding with the pins. However this is not very visible and therefore
considered acceptable.
