Coax-Ethernet Adapter MCA1001 User Manual
Figure B-1
This illustration shows a sample network using multiple networking technologies. The cable and
Internet signal comes into one MCA1001. This MCA1001 simultaneously feeds video to a set-top
box and TCP/IP Internet data an EVA8000. The EVA8000 and set-top box are both connected to
the TV.
The coax cable and Internet signal feed a second MCA1001, which provides Internet connectivity
to the cable modem and the wireless-N router puts the TCP/IP Internet data on the coax cable in
the wall. The desktop PC and gaming console with Gigabit (1000 Mbps) Ethernet adapters have a
gigabit connection through the gigabit switch to the ReadyNAS Duo network storage unit with a
gigabit connection. This connection allows for extremely fast access to large files on the
ReadyNAS
TM
Duo unit. This is fine for any of the media files it will use over this connection and
might be more suitable than running Ethernet cables to where the entertainment system is located.
