This chapter presents:
An overview of the ACS-8990 hardware, including the two
available configurations
Full instructions on changing hardware configurations
Instructions on how to install and upgrade DRAM
Instructions on cabling
Installation flowchart
Installation of ACS-8990 is simple. This chapter will lead you though the following steps:
Install
SODIMM
Connect
cables
Turn on!

Install minimum 64 MB SODIMM in the socket on the
controller board
Connect a SCSI cable (SCSI configuration) or fibre cable
(fibre configuration) from each host to the controller
Connect a serial ATA cable from each hard disk drive in the
intended array to the connector on the controller box
Connect the combo cable to the controller
Connect the power cable
Hardware installation complete.
This manual covers three models: ACS-8990, ACS-89200 and ACS-89230.
Where references are made to ACS-8990, they should be taken as applying to
all three models.
