Maintenance and Repairs
6.1
Service Menu
The EM GP2 has a Service button under the Settings menu (Section 5.8.2) which
allows entering the Service menu. Access to this menu is password-protected and
restricted to authorized Leica service engineers. Thus, user access to the Service
menu is prohibited and considered as not intended usage (Section 1.2).
Additionally, alterations in the Service menu by non-authorized personnel present
additional hazard risks (Section 1.5) with significantly higher occurrence and
severity than those possible during normal device operation, as some essential
protective measures might be deactivated or bypassed.
6.2
Software Updates
The EM GP2 might be subjected to software updates. These updates shall only be
provided by your sales representative or authorized Leica service engineers. Do
not alter the update files, as it might cause the system to stop functioning!
6.2.1
Preparing for the Update
To update the software, use a UBS-Stick with a storage capacity of at least 4 GB,
and perform the following steps:
1.
The upgrade is delivered inside a ZIP file (e.g. "EMGP_UI_20171016.zip")
2.
Copy this file into the root directory of the USB-Stick
3.
Extract the contents of the ZIP file into the root directory of the UBS-Stick
(i.e. on a Windows OS right click the ZIP file and choose "Extract All", and
actively select the root directory of the USB-Stick e.g. "F:\")
4.
Check the folder structure after unzipping. The files should be located at
"F:\Leica\GP2update" (assuming the USB-Stick has the drive letter "F:\")
