Mains input connections
When using the 201 0 in complex measurement set-ups with other mains operated
equipment, hum pick-up by earth loops may introduce measurement errors. To prevent
this it is necessary to ensure that the 2010 and the other instruments with which it is
used are properly earthed. This can be done as follows:
1.
Connect the signal ground lines of all the instruments together. This is done auto-
matically through the screens of the input and output cables.
2.
Connect the signal ground line of one of the instruments to its chassis and then con-
nect the chassis to mains ground. It is essential that this is done on only one of the
instruments and preferably the one nearest the measurement source
.
3.
Make the necessary adjustments such that the chassis of each of the other instru-
ments is connected to one and only one of the following: a) mains ground, b) signal
ground or c) chassis ground of another instrument which must eventually be con-
nected to mains ground.
On the 2010 signal ground is permanently connected to the chassis.
3.1 .4. Frequency Adjustment
1.
Set the controls as follows
:
SWEEP CONTROL
FREQUENCY SCALE
MAIN SCALE POINTER
COUNTING TIME
"Manual"
"Log

0,02 kHz (the left hand end of the scale)
"1
s"
The FREQUENCY INCREMENT control should be in a neutral (zero) position. If not,
adjust until the middle lamp is lit.
2.
Adjust the FREQUENCY ADJUSTMENT potentiometer with a small screwdriver until
the reading of the digital display is exactly 0,0200 kHz.

Modulator Balance
For low frequency analysis (i.e ., if the centre frequency is lower than four times the
bandwidth selected)
,
it is necessary to adjust the balance in the first modulator in order
