OPERATION
3.1. PRELIMINARY ADJUSTMENTS
3.1.1. Mounting
The 201 0 may be used free-standing (Cabinet Type A), in a mahogany case (Cabinet
Type B), or rack mounted (Cabinet Type C) for 19-inch International Standard racks. Type
A may be converted to Type B by the addition of a mahogany case KA 001 0, or to Type
C by the addition of rack-mounting frame KS 0001.
To install the instrument in a 19-inch rack, first assemble the frame from the KS 0001
components, as described in the Instruction Manual for KS 19-inch Rack-System Adap-
tors. Then remove the four rubber or plastic feet and the four plastic location pegs in the
top panel from the 201 0. Attach the instrument to the frame by means of the four
threaded bolt heads at the edges of the rear of the cabinet. Tighten all nuts and bolts
and secure the whole assembly in the rack by bolting its flanges to the sides of the rack.
3.1 .2. Connection of Mains Supply
22
Before connecting a mains supply, carry out the following checks and adjustments to en-
sure safe operation of the apparatus.
Mains Voltage Setting and Fuse Selection
The 2010 may be powered from 100, 115, 127, 150, 220 or 240V
±
10%, 50 to
400Hz single-phase AC mains lines. To select the correct mains voltage setting, un-
screw and remove the FUSE. Turn the black VOLTAGE SELECTOR ring with a coin or
wide-bladed screwdriver until the white bar is adjacent to the appropriate voltage mark-
ing.
Check the rating of the fuse. For 100, 115, 127 or 150V it should be a 630 mA slow-
blow fuse. For 220 or 240 V it should be a 31 5 mA slow-blow fuse. Make sure that
only fuses with the required rated current and of the specified type are used for replace-
ment. The use of mended fuses and the short-circuiting of fuse-holders should be
avoided.
Supply Connections
Once mains voltage setting and fuses have been checked, the mains supply may be con-
nected to the MAINS INPUT socket using the power cable AN 0010 provided. To fit a sui-
table mains plug to the cable, see Fig.3.1. For maximum operating safety it is recom-
mended that the protective (green/yellow) conductor of the cable be connected to a sui-
table earth, such as the protective earth contact of a mains socket outlet. The use of an
extension cable without protective conductor should be avoided.
