8.1
Check the FG clamping system with a chuck
tester
Interval
● at least once a month
Required accessories
● Chuck tester
If the chuck tester is not available, follow the steps described in "Check
the FG clamping system without a chuck tester  [→ 19]".
Procedure
ü The expiry date of the chuck tester (A) has not elapsed.
1. Insert the chuck tester into the FG clamping system.
2. Tighten the chuck tester until the marking ring appears (withdrawal
force: 22 N).
3. Check if the chuck tester slips out of the chuck before the marking
ring appears.
Ä If no: The chuck is functional.
Ä If yes:
CAUTION!  Risk of injury! The chuck is defective and
the secure fit of the preparation tool cannot be guaranteed.
Stop using the instrument.
Have the instrument's clamping system replaced in a workshop
authorized by Midwest.
Tip: Record the time and result of the check for your own information.
8.2
Check the FG clamping system without a chuck
tester
Interval
● at least once a month
Required accessories
● Large head diamond bur
Procedure
ü You wear suitable protective gloves.
ü A diamond bur with a large head is ready.
1. Insert a large head diamond bur into the FG clamping system.
2. Carefully pull on the bur (at least 5 lbs) and check to make sure the
bur stays in place.
3. If the bur moves or pulls out, do not use and send the instrument in
for service.
Tip: Record the time and result of the check for your own information.
