Description
The Varistep governor is
reporting a fault. This could be
due to a time out, low power, over
temperature, over current, a step
error, or other general error.
The voltage supplied to the
Varistep governor is too low.
The Varistep has enough voltage
to run, but not enough voltage to
control the motor.
The MIC3+ Ignition module is
reporting a fault. This could be
due to an operational error,
system error, open, short, engine
stop, or locked firing.
The Power Zone Governor
module #x is not communicating
over CAN bus with the Main
Controller. It is likely missing, not
connected, or damaged.
Set Alarm
Each alarm condition can
be set by each Varistep
module. The following bits
will determine which alarm
was reported in the alarm
log message:
0x0001 or 0x0002:
Time Out
0x0004 or 0x0008: Low
Power
0x0010 or 0x0020:
Over Temperature
0x0040 or 0x0080:
Over Current
0x0800 or 0x0400:
General Error
0x8000: Step Error
The alarm becomes active
once the Varistep detects
its power supply is too low
to operate for a period of
time. If the generator is
running, the period of time
is one second. If the
generator is cranking, the
period of time is two
seconds.
Each alarm condition can
be set by each MIC3+
Ignition module. The
following bits will determine
which alarm was reported
in the alarm log message:
0x01: Operational Error
0x02: System Error
0x04: Primary Open
0x05: Primary Short
0x06: Secondary Open
0x07: Secondary Short
0x60: Firing Locked
0x70: Waiting for
Engine to Stop
The Power Zone Governor
sends a message over
CAN bus periodically every
200 milliseconds to the
Main Controller. If after 600
milliseconds the Main
Controller has not received
a message from the
module, the shutdown
alarm is activated.

Clear Alarm
The alarm clears when
the condition that set the
alarm is no longer
active.
The alarm is cleared
once the supplied
voltage to the Varistep
rises above the low
voltage limit.
Turn the Keyswitch to
OFF. Verify the MIC3+
faults have been
addressed and cleared.
Clear the shutdown
alarm using the Display.
Turn the Keyswitch to
OFF. Verify CAN bus
communications
between the Main
Controller and the
Governor. Clear the
shutdown alarm using
the Display.
