4.2 Headers and Connectors

4-pin BMC External I
A System Management Bus header for IPMI 2.0 is located at JIPMB1. Connect the appropriate
cable here to use the IPMB I
definitions. JBPNI2C1 is used to update the CPLD of the BPN-NVME5-LA15-S4 backplane.
Note: The cables for JIPMB1 and JBPNI2C1 must be equal to or shorter than 30 cm.
Chassis Intrusion
A Chassis Intrusion header is located at JL1 on the motherboard. Attach the appropriate cable
from the chassis to inform you of a chassis intrusion when the chassis is opened. Refer to
the table below for pin definitions.
Fan Headers
There are six 4-pin fan headers (FAN1–FAN6) on the motherboard. All these 4-pin fan
headers are backwards compatible with the traditional 3-pin fans. However, fan speed control
is available for 4-pin fans only by Thermal Management via the IPMI 2.0 interface. Refer to
the table below for pin definitions.
