WARNING
Before disconnecting the battery or
removing a fuse for any reason, note
and record the riding modes settings.
Once the fuse has been remounted
or the battery reconnected, the riding
modes should be reset as noted.
Failure to reset the motorcycle riding
modes
settings
being ridden, may cause loss of
motorcycle control which could result
in serious injury or death.
Speed 400
Remove the seat, see page 57.
Scrambler 400 X
Remove the rider and passenger
seats, see page 57.
All Models
Disconnect the battery negative
(black) lead.

Remove the positive (+) terminal
protective cover to gain access to
the fastener.

Disconnect the battery positive (red)
lead.
Remove the battery strap.

Battery strap
Take the battery out of the case and
remove from the battery sleeve.

Battery Disposal

Should
the
battery
replacement, the original battery must
be handed to a recycling agent who
will make sure that the dangerous
substances from which the battery
is manufactured do not pollute the
environment.
