CAUTION:
The heat sink and fan assembly might be very hot. Turn off the server and wait three to five minutes to
let the server cool before removing the server cover.
Removing the heat sink and fan assembly
To remove the heat sink and fan assembly, do the following:
1. Prepare your server and remove the server cover. See "Preparing your server in advance and removing
the server cover" on page 49.
2. Lay the server on its side for easier operation.
3. Locate the heat sink and fan assembly. Then, disconnect the cable of the heat sink and fan assembly
from the CPU fan connector on the system board. See "Server components" on page 19.
Note: If there is any PCIe card installed on the system board, it might block your access to the heat sink
and fan assembly. In this case, remove the PCIe card. See "Removing a PCIe card" on page 54.
