• For server models with two 2.5-inch backplanes and an expander card, use mini-SAS signal cables to
connect the mini-SAS connectors on the backplane and expander card. See "Lenovo ThinkServer
SAS 12G Expander PCIe Card" on page 26.
• For server models with one 3.5-inch and one 2.5-inch backplanes and an expander card, use mini-
SAS signal cables to connect the mini-SAS connectors on the backplane and expander card. See
"Lenovo ThinkServer SAS 12G Expander PCIe Card" on page 26.
2. Use a power cable to connect the power connector on the backplane on the lower HDD cage and the
HDD power connector on the system board.
3. Use the other power cable to connect the power connector on the backplane one the upper HDD cage
and the power connector on the power distribution board or on the power conversion board.

This topic applies only to server models that come with a non-hot-swap power supply.
