7.7 Instructions for
connecting the motor
DANGER.
Live components
Danger to life and limb.
Electric energy can cause very severe injuries. Danger of death caused by
electric current if the insulation or individual components are damaged.
• Switch the machine off and secure it against restoration of the power supply
before any maintenance, cleaning or repair work is carried out.
• Switch the power supply off before any work is carried out on the electric
equipment. Check to ensure that the components to be replaced are de-
energised.
• Do not remove any safety equipment or render it inoperative by
modifications.
• You must be a trained electrician and familiar with the relevant accident
prevention regulations and codes of practice.
• The motor and its power supply cable must be disconnected from the power
supply.
• The frequency and voltage specified on the rating plate must match the line
frequency and voltage.
The motor must be connected as described in section 5 "Motor/brake connection
diagrams". The connection diagram is glued inside the terminal box cover.

When the three phases L1, L2 and L3 are connected in sequence to motor
terminals U1, V1, W1, the motor will run in the clockwise direction when viewed
from the motor output shaft end corresponding to DIN EN 60034-8.
The same procedure is used for motors with several speeds. To change
the direction of rotation of the motor, 2 of the 3 phase conductors must be
interchanged.
NOTE. The instructions contained in section 8 "Putting the unit into service" must
