7.5 Corrosion protection following installation by the customer

Before installing the equipment, check to ensure it has not suffered any damage
while in transit or in storage, such as corrosion, leaks, deformation or breakage.
IMPORTANT. Do not clean motors with compressed air.
i
Standard motors are suitable for operation in normal industrial conditions. If the
ambient temperature, atmosphere or humidity differ from these conditions, the
motor must be fitted with corresponding special equipment/options.
NOTE.
Ambient temperature:
i
Coolant temperature:
Site altitude:
The site at which the motor is installed must be designed in such a way that
• air can circulate to allow heat to be exchanged and the exhaust air is not
immediately drawn in again,
• no residue from operating processes can accumulate on the motor, fall
between the drive elements or damage the sealing ring,
• the rating plate is accessible
Before installing the motor, check that it will be operated in the mounting position
specified on the rating plate.
WARNING.
Crushing hazard
Parts of the body can be crushed when working on, assembling or
disassembling motors.
When working on the parts, ensure
• that there are no limbs/extremities (hands, fingers or feet) between the
individual parts or between the parts and the surrounding area.
• that there are no persons present in the immediate danger zone.
If the motor is operated outdoors in vertical mounting position IM V1 or in an
inclined mounting position with the shaft facing downwards, it should be protected
by a canopy.
For motors that have condensation water openings which can be closed with a
threaded plug, the drain holes must be arranged at the lowest point of the motor
as otherwise water may enter. If the mounting position of the motor is changed and
the drain holes are no longer required, the openings must be permanently sealed.
Any long-term preservative applied as an option to machined connecting surfaces
must be removed by the customer.
IMPORTANT. Failure to comply can result in damage to motors.
i
IMPORTANT. Paint finish with increased coat thickness is not applied to structural
i
or connecting surfaces. The coat thickness is limited to 60 - 100 μm in these areas
to avoid settling and to achieve the required friction coefficient.
After the components are installed on site, suitable corrosion protection must be
applied by the customer to any unused structural surfaces, joints and any other
fittings.
