Quick Reference Guide (customer copy)

Sending commands to your vehicle
Whether you want to remote start the engine, lock/unlock the doors or pop the trunk, there
are 3 possible ways you can send commands to your vehicle, using the:
1. Factory remote.
2. Aftermarket remote.
3. Directed SmartStart application via your smartphone.
®
If applicable, you can also start the engine remotely by pressing the Lock button 3 times
quickly on your factory remote.
Vehicle takeover
Close the vehicle doors, hood and trunk, then send the

Remote Start command to start the vehicle.*
Send the Unlock command on the factory or aftermarket

remote.*
Complete the following steps within 45 seconds or the vehicle will shut down.
Enter the vehicle.

Note: In a PTS vehicle, make sure the factory remote is
inside with you.
Insert your key in the ignition barrel and turn it to the ON
position.

OR
Press the PTS button once.
Depress the brake pedal, put the car in gear and drive

off.

Pit stop/idle mode
The vehicle pit stop/idle mode feature is not available.
Conditions and Limitations
IMPORTANT: In the event of a module power cycle or vehicle battery disconnection or

replacement, the ignition must be cycled to activate the Lock/Unlock functions for proper
functionality with aftermarket remote controls.
Š NOTE: There may be a limit of only 1 or 2 remote starts before needing to key-start the
vehicle to allow additional remote starts.
Š The remote start system will not work in the following conditions:
Š The ignition is on.
Š The alarm system is triggered.
Š The doors/hood are open.

Š The transmission is not in Park (P).
Š The vehicle battery voltage is too low.
Š The service engine light is on.

Note: Any stored DTC code errors will prevent vehicle from remote starting (no visual
lights on dash).
