AM 6040 Ambient
The purpose of an ambient microphone unit is to
Microphone Unit
provide sound from a meeting room/conference
hall, when there is no delegate/chairman using
their microphones.
Transmission of ambient noise rather than
transmitting no sound at all is a desirable feature
from listeners attending the meeting via
headphones. The ambient noise indicates to the
listeners, that there is no speaking activity going
on, and this information is very nice to have,
when interpreters are doing interpretation, and
the speaker stops speaking.
