Configuring Network Information

You can use the Network page under the Configuration menu of the BlueScale
interface to manage network connections for the nTier500.
The nTier500 has two GbE NICs, NIC1 and NIC2. If your unit also has SCSI or Fibre
Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs), you can use them to connect to tape libraries.
The nTier500 requires a valid IP address for NIC1 before it can connect to a network.
After connection, you can configure the nTier500 through a remote host. The color
LCD screen on the front bezel and the Network page both enable setting this IP
address, if necessary. See Identifying the nTier500 IP Address on page 39 for
information on how to change the IP address for NIC1 through the bezel display panel.
You can optionally connect the nTier500 to a second network by entering an IP
address for NIC2 through the Network page. With two IP addresses, you can assign
different uses for each network connection. For example, you might want one network
for users to access data and another one for tape backups.
Note: You cannot set the IP address for NIC2 through the bezel display
panel. You can set it only through the BlueScale Web interface.
To set IP connections using the BlueScale interface:
1. From the BlueScale interface, select Configuration > Network. The Network
page displays with information about the nTier500's network connections
(Figure 4-4).
