    Chapter 3 – Installing the nTier500 Preparing for the Installation Before unpacking and installing the Spectra nTier500, confirm the following: The installation location has adequate clearance for ventilation, minimal dust and debris, and proximity to an appropriate AC power source.

Make sure that the RMM Ethernet port on the nTier500 back panel (see Figure 1 on page 12) is connected to an active network with a computer that can be used to access to RMM on the nTier500 using a standard web browser.

Using a static IP address ensures that you always know the IP address for the RMM port and is highly recommended.

The cable has a molded NEMA 5-15P or IEC-60320 C14 male connector to plug into an electrical outlet and a molded IEC 60320 C13 female connector to plug into the nTier500 power supply.

    Firmware Package History The following pages list information about Spectra nTier500 firmware packages and how they affect the nTier500 and its components. BlueScale 2.2 Resolved Issues Writes to tape that are over 100 GB no longer fail over iSCSI. When creating a NAS volume using the BlueScale Web interface, you can no longer navigate away from the Logical Volumes screen and disrupt the NAS volume creation process before it is finished.

    The drives must be associated with a library—for example, refer to the following screen, which shows correctly mapped drives. This is a known Microsoft bug, and Spectra Logic is waiting for the patch to fix this problem.
