Who Can Upgrade?
2K libraries with AIT-3 or AIT-4 drives: to upgrade to AIT-5, review this guide.
2K libraries with AIT-1 and AIT-2 drives: to upgrade to AIT-3, AIT-4, or AIT-5,
contact your sales representative. We will send you a library configured with AIT-5
that you can immediately use, and then return the 2K with the older drives to
Spectra Logic.
Preparation
1. Identify the drive or drives to be upgraded in your Spectra library.
2. Make sure you have an AIT-5 drive for every drive you are replacing, and two
code tapes: a boot upgrade tape, and a firmware upgrade tape.
3. If you are going to return the drives to Spectra Logic (for example, for trade-ins
or in conjunction with a prepurchase), reserve the drive packaging for later use.
4. Download the AIT-5 driver from the Sony Web site, then install it on the library's
host system.
5. Make sure all backup procedures are halted, and that you set aside enough time
to complete the upgrade. Allow 15 minutes to upgrade firmware, and another
15 minutes per drive to replace the old drive with the new.
