MIDI STRUCTURE

132
The XK-5 can transmit and receive MIDI data on Keyboatd Channels as well as transmit MIDI data on External Zones. The following
diagram and the paragraphs below explain this in more detail.
u KEYBOARD CHANNELS
The Keyboard Channels are both MIDI IN and MIDI OUT - that is, they transmit MIDI information played on the Upper, and Lower
Manuals and Pedal, and respond to incoming MIDI data as well. The Keyboard Channels are particularly useful for recording and playing
back MIDI sequences
NOTE: The Upper Keyboard Channel transmits both Keyboard and Controller data.
u EXTERNAL ZONE CHANNELS
The External Zones are MIDI OUT only - they do not respond to incoming MIDI data. These are useful if you wish to use the XK-5 as
a Master Keyboard to control other MIDI devices such as synthesizers, sound modules, etc. The External Zones will transmit MIDI Note
data, Program changes, Conreoller settings, etc. Since these are Patch Parameters, it is possible to save different settings to each Patch,
thereby making control of external MIDI equipment easier.
There are 6 External Zones - 3 for the Upper, 2 for the Lower, and 1 for the Pedals.
