ASSIGNING PATCHES (FAVORITES)
114
Patches can be selected using the [VALUE] Rotary Knob. However, it is much more convenient to be able to recall frequently-used set-
tings instantly during performance. On the XK-5, an individual Patch that has been stored to a Preset Key is referred to as a "Favorite."
This page explains this in more detail.

USING THE PRESET KEYS TO STORE FAVORITES
The Preset Keys can be used two different ways which are described below.
u Favorites is "OFF"
w The Preset Keys of the XK-5 work in a manner similar to a tone-wheel Hammond Organ.
w The Preset Keys "C-C" to "A-A" corresponding patches "U00" to "U99" respectively.
w To record a Patch (with selecting the Bank), press the any Preset Key with holding the [BANK] Touch Button, and press any
Preset Key with holding the [RECORD] Touch Button.
u Favorites is "ON"
w The Preset Keys of the XK-5 recalls Patches regarding Favorite table.
w To record a Patch, press the [RECORD] Touch Button, select the Patch number to record by [VALUE] Rotary Knob, and press
the [ENTER] Touch Button to decide.
w The operation "[RECORD] + a Preset Key" means associate between a Patch currently selected and a Preset Key, not the record-
ing a Patch..
NOTE: The "C" Preset Key is also called the Cancel Key. It silences the manuals on a tone-wheel Hammond Organ. Although you
can record a Preset into the "C" Preset Key, the factory setting replicates that of a tone-wheel organ - no sound will be heard if the
"C" Preset Key is engaged.

Normally, the Preset Keys will recall only those
Patches which appear in a specific Bank - you will
notice that the Patch numbers will appear sequen-
tially in the display as you progress through the Pre-
sets from "C#" through "A."
Howvere, there will be cases where you want to be
A
able to recall Patches out of sequence - for example,
the "C#" Preset Key may recall Patch U45, and the
B
"D" Preset Key will recall Patch U19. The FAVOR-
ITES feature allows you to save individual Patches
to the Preset Keys in any order you desire and recall
them the same way. The figure on the left illustrates
this.
