The IEEE-488.2 common commands implemented by the 1256 are
described later in this chapter. The 1256 complies with this
standard for both GPIB and RS-232 operational modes.
The 1256 supports all required IEEE-488.2 commands. In addition,
the optional *OPT?, *SAV, and *RCL commands are supported.
The following paragraphs describe the IEEE-488.2 commands
supported by the 1256. In addition, the status reporting model
implemented by the 1256 is described. The 1256 complies with
this standard for both GPIB and RS-232 operational modes.
The following commands are implemented:
*IDN? Identification query
*RST Instrument reset
*TST? Commanded self-test
*CLS Clear status
*ESE Set the Standard Event Status Enable register
*ESE? Read the Standard Event Status Enable register
*ESR? Read the Standard Event Status register
*SRE Set the Service Request Enable register
*SRE? Read the Service Request Enable register
*STB? Read the status byte
*OPC Set the OPC bit of the Standard Event Status
register
*OPC? Reply with "1" when executed (used for
synchronizing)
*TRG Send a trigger to the instrument over the bus
*SAV Store relay states in non-volatile memory
*RCL Recall relay states from non-volatile memory
*OPT? Read if any options are installed

the manual.
