The most important port settings can be read out and some of them also modified via
the operator panel of the actual device. You can access the screen for setting the ports
from the MAIN MENU via Parameter → Setup/Extras → Serial ports.
Below the heading of the menu (Serial Ports) you can select the PC port, the system
port and the service port via the arrow key
menu of each port. The display and the option of parameterizing directly at the device
are identical for the PC port and for the service port. We will take the example of the
PC port (Figure 4-25, page 73).

The type of the port(s) depends on the device model and variant and may also miss
entirely. While it is possible to modify the data of the PC port and the service port at
the device, the data of the system port(s) can only be read out at the device. In addition
to the parameters already mentioned for the PC port and the service port, the idle state
for fibre optic connection can be read out here (see Figure 4-26, page 74). In case of
a wired interface you will read "not existent" here.
