8 Malfunctions

Depending on the operating conditions, check the valve at certain intervals to prevent a pos‑
sible failure before it can occur. Operators are responsible for drawing up an inspection and
test plan.

8.1 Troubleshooting

Malfunction
Actuator or plug stem does not
move on demand.
Actuator or plug stem does not
move through the whole range.
The valve leaks to the atmo‑
sphere (fugitive emissions).
Increased flow through closed
valve (seat leakage).
Reduced flow rate

Actuator is blocked.
Signal pressure too low

The packing and metal bellows
are defective.
Metal bellows is defective.
Flange joint loose or gasket
