Application 8

6.3.9 Application 8
System diagram 8
Heat circuit
Hot-water circuit
70
Common primary heat exchanger for a heat circuit and a hot-water circuit with
mixing valve and indirect tank charging system.
The motor valve M1 controls the flow temperature, which is measured by the sen-
sor S1. The return temperature measured by the sensor S2 can be limited. The cir-
culation pump P1 is running when the reference flow temperature is above 20 °C
or the outdoor temperature is below 2 °C.
The mixing valve M2 controls the charging temperature, which is measured by the
sensor S5. The temperature at S5 determines:
• The primary charging temperature at sensor S4
• In certain situations (low flow temperature in heat circuit), the temperature
level at sensor S1.
The upper and lower storage tank temperatures are measured by the sensors S6
and S7, respectively. A low S6 temperature causes charging to start. Charging ends
when a high temperature is measured at S7. When a Type 2 controller is used, the
return temperature measured by S11 can be limited. The pump P4 maintains cir-
culation through the storage tank but is not controlled by the ECL 2000.
The hot-water circuit is connected to the secondary side of the common heat ex-
changer, in parallel with the heat circuit, and parallel operation is possible to a
limited extent. When tank charging starts, P2 is started and the mixing valve M2
adjusts the primary charging temperature at S4 to the desired level. Immediately
afterwards, the charging pump P3 is started. If necessary, the temperature at S1 is
increased as required by the temperature measured at S4.
