6.3.8 Application 7
System diagram 7
Heat circuit
Hot-water circuit
66
Common primary heat exchanger for a heat circuit with mixing valve and a hot-
water circuit with indirect tank charging system.
The mixing valve M2 controls the flow temperature in the mixing circuit, which is
measured by the sensor S4. The sensor S1 measures the flow temperature on the
secondary side of the common heat exchanger. The temperature level here is de-
termined by S4. When a Type 2 controller is used, the return temperature meas-
ured by the sensor S11 can be limited. The circulation pump P1 is running when
the reference flow temperature is above 20 °C or the outdoor temperature is below
2 °C.
The motor valve M1 controls the charging temperature measured by the sensor S5,
which in its turn determines the temperature level at S1. The upper and lower stor-
age tank temperatures are measured by the sensors S6 and S7, respectively. A low
S6 temperature causes the charging pump P3 to start and the pump is stopped
when a high temperature is measured at S7. It is possible to limit the return tem-
perature measured by S2. The pump P4 maintains circulation through the storage
tank but is not controlled by the ECL 2000.
The hot-water circuit is connected to the secondary side of the common heat ex-
changer, in parallel with the heat circuit, and parallel operation is possible to a
limited extent. When tank charging starts, P2 is started and the charging tempera-
ture at S1 is raised to the desired level. During charging, the mixing valve M2 ad-
justs the flow temperature in the heat circuit as well as possible.
