DRIVING TIPS
General information
The kink angle determines the angle between
the vehicle and trailer and thus the desired di-
rection of travel of the car-trailer combination
in reverse.
With the Trailer Assistant, the car-trailer com-
bination is not guided by the steering wheel
when reversing, but by continuous correction
of the articulation angle on the control display.
The system takes over the steering. The speed
must be controlled by the driver using the ac-
celerator pedal and the brake.

tance systems" chapter.

Warning
The system cannot serve as a substitute for
the driver's personal judgment in assessing
the traffic situation. Based on the limits of
the system, it cannot independently react
to all traffic situations. There is a risk of
accident. Adjust driving style to traffic condi-
tions. Watch the surrounding traffic situation
closely, be ready to take over steering and
braking at any time, and actively intervene
where appropriate.

onto curbs. There is a risk of injury or risk
of damage to property. Watch surrounding

Functional requirements
A trailer must be attached and connected.
Depending on vehicle equipment and na-
tional-market version, trailer towing must
be activated.
The drawbar length of the trailer used must
be adjusted depending on vehicle equip-
ment and national-market version.
When using the Trailer Assistant for the
first time, calibrate the system for the trailer
used as needed.
The rearview camera must be clean and
clear.
Vehicles with removable trailer hitch: Use
suitable accessories approved by BMW.
