STEERING HEAD
b. Remove the bearing race from the lower
bracket with a floor chisel 2 and hammer.
c. Install a new bearing races.

If the bearing race is not installed properly,
the steering head pipe could be damaged.
NOTE:
9 Always replace the bearings and bearing
races as a set.
9 Whenever the steering head is disassem-
bled, replace the rubber seal.

INSTALLING THE STEERING HEAD

1. Lubricate:
9 Upper ball bearing 1
9 Lower ball bearing 2
9 Bearing race
Recommended lubricant
Lithium-soap-based grease
2. Install:
9 Lower bracket
9 Ring nut
Refer to "CHECKING AND ADJUSTING
THE STEERING HEAD" in chapter 3.
