Transmit operation by pressing the button on the Bluetooth
(when the VOX function is OFF)
When the VOX function is OFF, pressing the "Call button"* on the Bluetooth
once will engage the FTM-500DR/DE in transmit, and then a call can be made using the
Bluetooth headset.

Press the "Call button"* again to return the FTM-500DR/DE to receive.
*The button name may differ depending on your Bluetooth
SSM-BT10: When the Multi-Function Key is pressed, a
beep will sound and the FTM-500DR/DE will
continuously transmit.
Press the Multi-Function Key again, a beep
will sound and the FTM-500DR/DE will return
to receive mode.
Hands-free VOX operation with a Bluetooth
When FTM-500DR/DE VOX (automatic voice transmission) function is turned ON, the
Bluetooth headset can perform hands-free operation and transmit automatically just by

talking. Turn the VOX function ON according to "VOX Operation" instructions.
The VOX function is commonly used for the Bluetooth
If you do not use the Bluetooth headset and do not want to use the VOX function with the
microphone, set this to "OFF".

1. Press and hold the FUNC knob.

HIGH : VOX function ON (VOX Gain Level "HIGH")
When set to "LOW" or "HIGH", the sound is auto-
matically transmitted by voice from the connected
Bluetooth
headset. When not connected to a

Bluetooth headset, the sound from the microphone

is automatically transmitted.
5. Press the DIAL knob, SUB DIAL knob or PTT switch to save the settings and return
to normal operation.
z Disable the VOX function
To cancel VOX and return to PTT operation, just repeat the above procedures, se-
lecting "OFF" in step 4 above.
