4.2

Survey for RF Access to Sector Antennas

It is important to conduct a site survey before installing the sector antennas. A poorly
installed or badly located sector antenna can cause interference and will not provide the
performance for correct operation of the Ellipse TMA Sector Controller system.
For best results:
Mount the sector antennas in a location that provides an unobstructed view of the
a.
horizon in 360 degrees.
Avoid mounting any sector antenna close to metal objects that may block or reflect
b.
the signal.
To minimize susceptibility to radio interference, the sector antennas should
c.
generally be located at least 1 m (~3.25 ft) away from any another high frequency
system antennas (e.g., microwave, GSM, CDMA, 3G) and should not be mounted
within the main beamwidth of any active (radiating) antenna system.
