9. Fault finding

Condition
Pump does not start
Pump does not reach the ultimate pressure
Pumping speed is too low
After switching off pump under vacuum, pressure in system rises too fast
Pump gets too hot
Oil in intake line or in vacuum vessel
Pump's oil consumption too high, oil mist at exhaust
Oil is turbid
Pump is excessively noisy
Fault
Pump does not start
Cause
Pump is connected incorrectly.
Remedy
Connect the pump correctly. Refer
Cause
Motor protection switch incorrectly set or fuse is blown.
Remedy
Set the motor protection switch properly or change the fuse. Refer
the system
Cause
Operating voltage does not match motor.
Remedy
Replace the motor.
Cause
Motor is malfunctioning.
Remedy
Replace the motor.
Cause
Oil temperature is below 12 °C (54 °F).
Remedy
Heat the pump and pump oil or use a different oil.
Cause
Oil is too viscous.
Remedy
Use appropriate oil grade. Refer to
Exhaust filter or exhaust line is clogged.
Cause
Remedy
Replace the filter or clean the exhaust line. Refer to
page 24.
Fault
Pump does not reach the ultimate pressure
Cause
There is an external oil leak.
Remedy
Repair the pump.
Cause
Float valve does not close.
Remedy
Repair the valve. Refer to
