Installation and Reference for the Model PS104/PS105/PS110 Print Server
Includes only UNIX systems or if you have PCs without Windows on your network
You must configure both your print server and all your PC systems with the instructions
provided in this chapter. Before you can configure the print server (which must be done first)
you must assign an IP address to it. (For information about IP addresses, refer to

Assign active IP address resolution
With temporary IP address assignment, the print server sends out broadcast packets
actively searching for a server to provide the print server with an IP address. The print
server sends out DHCP packets, BootP packets, and RARP packets (in this sequence) to
resolve its own IP address. This broadcast mechanism is conducted only upon reset or
power cycle.

Assign passive IP address resolution
Assign a static IP address to your print server by referring to

With all four methods of IP address resolution, the print server loses the IP setting after reset or
a power loss. To permanently configure the print server and save the IP address assignment in
the flash EEPROM of the print server, you must use FTP. Using FTP, you can modify the
CONFIG file in the print server.
