Please read the instruction carefully before operating the unit.

POWER SUPPLY

AC: 100-240V ~ 50/60Hz (CE)
DC: 2x1.5V, battery type AAA/R03/UM4 (not provided) for back-up
For optimal performance, alkaline batteries are recommended. These batteries must be replaced every six months.

  1. Insert the plug of power cord into a standard wall outlet.
  2. Install the batteries in their compartment. Use only the size and type of batteries specified. Respect the polarity indicated in the compartment. Improper polarity can cause damage to the device. In order to avoid leakage, remove the batteries when unit will not be used for a long period of time. Do not mix different types of batteries or old batteries with new ones.


Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type.

BACKUP SYSTEM: All settings are memorized, however, the clock time could occasionally need to be readjusted. In case of power failure, if backup batteries are not installed, the screen will flash to indicate this power failure and the necessity to redo your settings.

TURNING UNIT ON/OFF

In Standby mode, press once to turn on the unit. Press and hold for 2 seconds to turn off the unit.

SELECTING FUNCTION

When the unit is ON, press SOURCE button repeatedly to select the desired function in cycle: FM, AUX, Bluetooth.

LISTENING TO THE RADIO

When the unit is on, press SOURCE button repeatedly to select FM mode. The display will show current frequency for a few seconds and change to clock time.

  1. Choose your radio station with or .
  2. Adjust the volume by or to the desired level.

Press and hold or for a few seconds. The automatic search locates strong stations. A station with a weak signal can be set manually by repeatedly pressing or .

Note: For a better reception in FM, extend the antenna.

Preset stations

The unit can store 20 FM stations.

Manual storage

  1. Select a radio station manually or in automatic search.
  2. Press . "P 01" appears on the screen.
  3. Press or to select a channel.
  4. Press to save it.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 to store other stations.

Automatic storage

In FM mode, press and hold P+ for few seconds and the unit will automatically save the first 20 FM stations. When you store on a channel already been preset, the previous station will automatically be cleared and replaced by the new station.

Listening to station presets

Press P+ and repeat the operation as many times as necessary to select your station.

Press or to adjust the sound level.

CONNECTING AUXILIARY SOURCE

  1. Connect your auxiliary source (e.g. mp3 player) to the AUX IN jack on the back of unit (cable not included).
  2. Press SOURCE button on unit repeatedly to select AUX mode. The display will show "" for a few seconds and change to clock time.
  3. Start playback from your auxiliary source.
  4. Adjust the volume to desired level.
  5. To stop playback, disconnect your auxiliary source from the AUX IN jack.

BLUETOOTH FUNCTION

Pairing a Bluetooth Device

  1. When the unit is ON, Press SOURCE button repeatedly to select Bluetooth mode. The display will show "" for a few seconds and change to clock time. The Bluetooth indicator will start to blink indicating it is in pairing mode.
  2. On the Bluetooth device, enable Bluetooth and select "M-172 BT" from the Device List.(Refer to the user manual of the device to be connected for detailed operations.) If the Bluetooth device prompts for a pass code, use "0000". Some Bluetooth devices will ask you to accept the connection. You will hear an indication sound when pairing is successful. The Bluetooth indicator stops blinking and stays lit.

Tip: If you want to connect your Bluetooth speaker to another Bluetooth audio device, you need to disconnect current device first and follow the steps above to make a new connection.

  • On some devices such as computers, once paired you must select the unit from the Bluetooth menu and choose "Use as Audio Device (stereo)" or similar.
  • Pairing remains intact when the unit and/or your Bluetooth device is taken out of communication range. An active connection will be re-established when your Bluetooth device returns within range.
  • When the unit is turned on again, it will automatically try to reconnect with the most recently paired Bluetooth device.

Using a Bluetooth Device

  1. With a unit paired (see previous section), operate your Bluetooth device and its sound will be heard through the M-172 BT's speakers.
  2. Press the button to pause playback. Press again to resume playback.
  3. Select desired track with / .
  4. Adjust the volume using the / Volume buttons. You can also adjust the volume on the device to which you are paired.

Using a NFC Device

NFC (Near Field Communication) is a technology that enables shortrange wireless communication between NFC-enabled devices, such as mobile phones.

  1. When the unit is ON, Press SOURCE button repeatedly to select Bluetooth mode. The display will show "" for a few seconds and change to clock time. The Bluetooth indicator will start to blink indicating it is in pairing mode.
  2. Enable NFC and Bluetooth on your Bluetooth device (see the user manual of your device for details), tap the NFC device on the NFC tag of this unit until you hear an indication sound from this unit. The NFC device is connected to this unit via Bluetooth.
  3. Select and play audio files or music on your NFC device.
  4. To break the connection, tap the NFC device with the NFC tag on this unit again.

Note: The operational range between the main unit and a NFC device is approximately 10 meters.

SETTING THE TIME

  1. In Standby mode, press and hold button, the display will flash. Set the time with HR. hour and/or MIN. minutes.
  2. Press again to confirm.

NOTE: If during the adjustment time no key is activated in 9 seconds, the current display will be automatically stored.

SETTING THE ALARM AND THE ALARM MODE

  1. In Standby mode, press button repeatedly to select the source of wake up: Buzzer, FM or 1BT Bluetooth. The corresponding alarm indicator lights up.
  2. Press and hold for a few seconds. The display starts to blink.
  3. Press HR. and / or MIN. to set the time of wake up.
  4. Press to confirm.

Note:

  • The corresponding alarm indicator blinks when the alarm function is activated.
  • When or 1BT is selected as the wake-up source, the alarm sound level will increase gradually to its maximum in about one minute.
  • When is the wake-up source, select your desired radio station before the unit is turned off.
  • When 1BT is the wake-up source, make sure your Bluetooth device (e.g. Smartphone) is the most recently paired Bluetooth device to M-172 BT, and the Bluetooth function is enabled on your Bluetooth device. When the alarm time is reached, the unit will automatically reconnect with your Bluetooth device and the songs in your Bluetooth device will start to play automatically.

* Same procedure applies for alarm 2 with button.

STOPPING THE ALARM

Alarm repetition

Press SNOOZE. The alarm stops and will sound again 9 minutes later. The Alarm indicator blinks during the snooze time.

Alarm stop

Press or . The alarm1 will sound again the next day at the same time.

Alarm Cancellation

In Standby mode, press button repeatedly until alarm indicator lights off.

* Same procedure applies for alarm 2 with button.

SLEEP FUNCTION

In sleep mode, the unit will turn off automatically after a specified time. You can select duration in minutes before the unit turns off automatically.

  1. Press to select 90-80-70-60-50-40-30-20 or 10 minutes of listening. The unit will automatically turn off after the specified time.
  2. To cancel the sleep function, repeatedly press button until "OFF" is displayed.

DIMMER

Press to select the brightness of the screen: high, low, or off.

USB CHARGING

This unit is equipped with a built-in USB charging port (Output: DC 5V 1A ) for recharging your mobile device (e.g. Smartphone, tablet, etc.) Simply plug the USB charging cable (not included) into the USB charging port and connect it to your mobile device.
