9 Using Q-Link

About Q-Link

You can control up to eight Part or FX parameters (four on the Z4) in real time by using
the front panel Q-Link controls. Each control can be assigned to one Part or FX parame-
ter, or to the same parameter in all Parts. Each Multi can have its own Q-Link assign-
ments. In addition, the Q-Link controls can be configured so that they transmit MIDI
Control Change messages as they are adjusted, which can be recorded to an external
MIDI sequencer.
Configuring Q-Link
Q-Link can be configured as follows.
Select a Multi, as explained on page 67.

Press the Q-Link button, and then select the ASSIGN page shown below.
The Q-Link ASSIGN page is divided into eight sections, one for each Q-Link control.

Select the word "Part" (or "FX"), and use the JOG dial to select "Part" or
"FX" for the Q-Link control.
If you selected "Part," select the "Part" parameter field and specify the

number of the Part that is to be controlled by the selected Q-Link control.
1–128 or ALL:
Parts. In the case of FX, you can select an FX processor.
Select the parameter of the Q-Link control that you want to configure, as

shown in the example below.
When ALL is selected, the specified parameter becomes effective in all
