tongue.
Function of the seat belt warning system for driver
and co-driver
The ü seat belt warning lamp in the Instrument
Display is a reminder that all vehicle occupants
must wear their seat belts correctly.
The ü seat belt warning lamp lights up for six
seconds each time the vehicle is switched on.
A warning tone may also sound.
After the vehicle is started, the seat belt warning
goes out as soon as the driver's and the co-driver's
seat belts are fastened.
While driving, the seat belt warning lights up in the
following cases:
if the vehicle's speed is higher than 15 mph
R
(25 km/h) and the driver's or co-driver's seat
belt is not fastened
if the driver or co-driver unfasten their seat belt
R
during the journey

The installation location of an air bag is identified
by the AIRBAG symbol.
When enabled, an air bag can provide additional
protection for the respective vehicle occupant.
Possible protection per air bag:
Driver's air bag, co-driver air bag: head and rib-
R
cage
Window curtain air bag: head
R
Side impact air bag: ribcage and pelvis
R
& WARNING Risk of injury or fatal injuries if
the front passenger air bag is enabled
If the front passenger air bag is enabled, a
child on the front passenger seat may be
struck by the front passenger air bag in the
event of an accident.
NEVER use a rearward-facing child
#
restraint system on a seat with an ENA-
BLED FRONT AIR BAG. This can result in
the DEATH of or SERIOUS INJURY to the
CHILD.
When installing a child restraint system on the co-
driver seat, observe the vehicle-specific informa-
tion (
page 44). Also be sure to observe the
/
notes on rearward-facing or forward-facing child
restraint systems on the co-driver seat
(
page 44).

Protection provided by the airbags
Depending on the accident situation, an airbag
may supplement the protection offered by a cor-
rectly fastened seat belt.
& WARNING Risk of injury or death due to an
incorrect seat position
If you deviate from the correct seat position,
the airbag cannot perform its intended protec-
tive function.
Each vehicle occupant must make sure of the
following:
Fasten seat belts correctly. Pregnant
R
women must take particular care to ensure
that the lap belt never lies across the abdo-
men.
Adopt the correct seat position and keep
R
as far away as possible from the airbags.
Observe the following information.

Always make sure that there are no
#
objects between the airbag and vehicle
occupant.
