13 Storage and Shipping

13.1

Storage

Procedure
If the device is in operation:

Decommission the device.
t
Clean the device.
t
Transport the device to the desired installation site (see Chapter "6.4
t
Moving the Device to the Installation Site", page 32).
Store the device according to the ambient conditions (see Chapter "15.2
t
Ambient Conditions", page 57).
CAUTION Risk of injury due to uncontrolled rolling away of the
t
device! Place it on a level surface and secure the brakes. Wear personal
protective equipment.

13.2 Returning Devices and Parts

Defective devices or parts can be returned to Sartorius Stedim Biotech.
Returned devices must be clean, decontaminated, and properly packed.
Transport damage as well as measures for subsequent cleaning and
disinfection of the device or parts by Sartorius Stedim Biotech shall be
charged to sender.
WARNING
Risk of injury due to contaminated devices!
Devices contaminated with hazardous materials (nuclear, biological, or
chemical NBC) will not be accepted for repair or disposal.
Observe the information on decontamination (see Chapter "14.1", Page

56).
Procedure
Decommission the device.

Install the transport lock.
t
Contact Sartorius Service for instructions on how to return devices or
t
parts (please refer to our website at www.sartorius.com for return
instructions).
Pack the device and its parts properly for return.
