Storage

CAUTION
!
If you fail to ensure proper storage conditions, the
chemical protective suit may be damaged!
1. Close zipper mechanism to approx. 5 cm (2 in.) before the
end. Regularly check whether the fastener system is still
adequately greased.
2. Pull flat bag supplied over hood in such a way that
cylindrical visor remains in shape.
3. If the chemical protective suit is folded together, pull
supplied flat bag over safety boots so that chemical
protective suit is not discolored.
4. Store chemical protective suit in a cool, dry, dark and airy
place without pressure or stress. Keep out of UV light and
direct sunlight; avoid ozone.
5. Observe storage temperature
(see Chapter 10 on Page 31).

Dräger recommends packing the chemical protective
suit in the CPS storage and transportation bag to
protect it from environmental influences and to extend
maintenance intervals.
If the suit is stored stationarily:
Lay the chemical protective suit flat during storage
or
Hang the chemical protective suit up, hood or safety boots
must have floor contact.
If the suit is stored in the emergency vehicle:
1. Fold up the depressurized chemical protective suit
carefully.
Do not use force to crease suit material, seams and
fastener system.
a. Fold socks or safety boots up twice.
b. Lay sleeves across the middle of the chest part.
Smooth out any creases.
c. Fold the hood and the upper section of the chemical
protective suit to ensure that the visor lies on the rolled-
up safety boots. Smooth out any creases. Make sure
that the visor doesn't get deformed.
2. Store the chemical protective suit in a carrying bag or lying
flat in a storage bay. Avoid wear due to constant friction
against the storage surface.

Disposal

The chemical protective suit must be disposed of in
accordance with the applicable waste disposal regulations.

The chemical protective suit can be disposed of
thermally or on waste dumps. The type of disposal
depends on the contamination.
9.1

Retirement considerations

The chemical protective suit must be retired from service in the
following cases:
It was damaged and cannot be repaired any more.
It was contaminated and cannot be decontaminated any
more due to the characteristics of the hazardous
substance.
The material of the chemical protective suit has altered: It
shows embrittlement, swellings, color changes, surface
maceration or similar.
In case of doubt please contact Dräger for more information.
9.2

Service life

The material properties of the chemical protective suit will be
maintained for at least 15 years from the date of manufacture
if not used and if stored under the recommended conditions,
with the recommended maintenance intervals. The service life
may be reduced significantly despite correct storage and
servicing if the suit is used frequently.
