To check and adjust tyre
pressure:
You cannot tell if your tyres are
properly inflated simply by looking
at them. Radial tyres may look
properly inflated even when they
are under-inflated.
For tyre pressure inspection, the
use of a quality pocket tyre pres-
sure gauge is recommended.
1. Remove the valve cap from
the tyre valve stem.
2. Press the tyre gauge firmly
onto the valve to get a pres-
sure measurement.
3. If the pressure is low, add air
until you reach the recom-
mended pressure.
4. If you overfill the tyre, release
air by pushing on the metal
stem in the centre of the tyre
valve.
5. Re-check the tyre pressure.
6. Be sure to put the valve caps
back on the valve stems. They
help prevent leaks by keeping
out dirt and moisture.
Section 4

Inspection and Rotation

Check your tyres and wheels regu-
larly for unusual wear or damage.
Push and pull the rear-mounted
spare tyre to make sure it is secure.
If it moves, use the wheel wrench
to tighten the nuts. See "Changing
a Flat Tyre" in Section 5.
To make your tyres last longer,
have them inspected and rotated
at the intervals recommended in
your Maintenance Schedule.
