• If your vehicle is about to stall
while you are ascending a hill,
do the following:
- Use the brakes to stop the
vehicle.
- Apply the park brake and shift
into R (Reverse).
- Release the park brake.
- Slowly back straight down
the hill.
• If your vehicle does stall while
you are ascending a hill, do the
following:
- Apply the regular brakes.
- Set the park brake.
- If your vehicle is fitted with an
automatic transmission, shift
into P (Park).
- Restart the engine.
- Shift into R (Reverse).
- Release the park brake.
- Slowly back straight down
the hill.

• Never try to prevent a stall by
shifting into N (Neutral) and
revving the engine. Your vehi-
cle will roll backwards.
You could lose control of the
vehicle and you or others may
be injured.
• Never try to turn the vehicle if
it is about to stall while travel-
ling up-hill.
If the hill is steep enough to
stall your vehicle, it is steep
enough to cause your vehicle
to roll over if you turn around.
If you cannot make it up the
hill, you must back straight
down.
