Fieldbus
Another way to monitor operating parameters from a BCM is by
using a fieldbus network from the system controller. If a fieldbus
network such as EtherNet/IP , Modbus Serial, or Modbus TCP are
being used for control, the master controller on these networks can
monitor operating parameters constantly with other input and output
polled/cyclic data or via specific one-time acyclic/explicit messages
only when an event occurs.
The BCM supports both implicit polled messages as well as explicit
messages of all operating parameters on EtherNet/IP .

Communication to other devices
Communication with other devices varies with the customer needs
and application.
The RVSS Base Control Module (BCM) can communicate using
Modbus or Ethernet protocols.
For Modbus Serial, The BCM has an RS-485 port on its bottom face
and a USB port on its front.
The BCM is furnished with an Ethernet module for Modbus TCP
or EtherNet Industrial Protocol (Ethernet IP) communication. This
module can provide RVSS status and control communications
using one of these protocols and the communications data address
information provided in Appendix A.
