Appendix 5

This section shows the procedures for turning OFF the power and resetting this product.

Enabling the Unified Write Filter can prevent data from being written to specified folders and files. Even if the

power of this product is turned OFF by a procedure other than normal one such as a power outage, the

Windows system files can be protected. (Page 137 Unified Write Filter (UWF) settings)

Precautions

Close all active programs on this product before turning OFF or resetting this product.

Product power OFF

Perform one of the following procedures to turn OFF the power supply of this product.

• Performing the MELIPC shutdown function. ( Page 134 Performing the MELIPC shutdown function)

• Setting the Windows and VxWorks parts to turn OFF. (Page 135 Setting the Windows and VxWorks parts to turn OFF)

However, if a system watchdog timer error has occurred on this product, perform the following procedure.

Precautions

• When the MELIPC shutdown function is executed, WIN RDY LED may keep flashing for a long period of time. In that case,

connect a display to DisplayPort on this product to check whether or not there are some errors (program execution is

proceeding or file is overwritten) that inhibit the completion of the MELIPC shutdown function.

If an error occurred, eliminate the errors and shut down Windows from Windows Start menu. If there is no error or Windows

shut down is proceeding, wait until the MELIPC shutdown function is complete and WIN RDY LED turns OFF.

However, if the Windows shutdown is not performed, perform the MELIPC shutdown function again, or shut down Windows

from Windows Start menu.

• If Windows shutdown is attempted by mistake, press and hold the MELIPC RESET/WIN RESET switch to the WIN RESET

side for at least 1 second to forcibly reset the Windows part.

• When powering OFF or resetting this product, be sure to follow the procedure for this product. Otherwise, Windows may

not start normally, or the data in the user drive may be corrupted or a file system error may occur.

Performing the MELIPC shutdown function

Operating procedure

Perform the MELIPC shutdown function using any one of the following method.

• Press and hold the SHUTDOWN switch for at least 1 second.

• Execute the C Controller dedicated function (CCPU_MELIPCShutdown).

• Turn on the shutdown request input of the I/O connector OS for at least 1 second. ( Page 161 I/O connector)

The WIN RDY LED flashes during a shutdown.

Check that the shutdown is completed by any one of the following method.

• Is the WIN RDY LED OFF, and the MAIN ERR LED flashing?

• Is the shutdown completion output of the I/O connector on? ( Page 161 I/O connector)

Power OFF the product.

VxWorks part processing that was registered by the user in advance can be executed before performing the

MELIPC shutdown function.

Advance processing is registered using the C Controller module dedicated function
