If your Hitachi NEXT Series Air Compressor is not working, first investigate the cause and take proper corrective action by referring to the LCD monitor indication and the manual. After taking corrective action, press the RESET button to clear the shutdown indication. If the problem persists or you have questions, contact your local HITACHI distributor/master dealer or representative office.
To use the Hitachi NEXT Series Air Compressor, familiarize yourself with the name, location and function of each component of the DSP air compressor, as detailed in the general description. Pay attention to the Plate of Operating/Servicing Instructions on the instrument panel and read it carefully before operation and servicing. The LCD monitor displays operation data, settings, and alarm information. You can navigate through various displays using the MONITOR button and adjust settings using the SET button and +/- UP/DOWN buttons.
To drain condensation from the Hitachi NEXT Series Air Compressor, verify that air containing condensate is discharged intermittently from the intercooler and aftercooler drain ports. The amount of condensate produced is higher with increased temperature and humidity. For water-cooled units, when stopping the compressor, open the water relief pet cock and the water drain valve at the water drain port to remove cooling water from the system. Ensure complete drainage during winter to prevent freezing in the cooling water pipes.
To start the Hitachi NEXT Series Air Compressor, first ensure the discharge stop valve is fully open. Then, press the START button. The compressor will switch to full load operation within 15 seconds for fixed speed types and approximately 10 seconds for V-type models. After starting, verify that the oil pressure rises to 18 psi (0.12 MPa) or greater within ten seconds. If the pressure does not rise, press the STOP button and clean the oil strainer, or regulate the oil pressure using the oil relief valve. Also, check the LCD monitor for a gradual rise in discharge air pressure, ensuring it remains below the rated maximum pressure.
You should use genuine Hitachi GL-68 DSP Compressor Oil.
Maintenance on the Hitachi NEXT Series Air Compressor should be performed according to a schedule. Daily maintenance includes filling out the OPERATION RECORD LOGBOOK, draining condensate, and observing other daily operating instructions. Bi-annual maintenance (every 3 months) involves checking LCD indications and oil level, and draining aftercooler/intercooler condensate. Bi-annual schedule (for 8,000 hours/year or less operation) includes replacing air intake filter, checking oil filter pressure, cleaning control line filter, strainers, coolers, and checking valves. Annual and 3-year schedules involve lubricating oil replacement, tightening joints/bolts/nuts, and checking electrical parts. 2-year schedule involves replacing control line filter elements, blowoff solenoid valves, and check valves. 6-year schedule involves overhauling the airend and replacing various components like main motor bearings, control line filters, and PC board assemblies.
The maximum air pressure output, or discharge pressure, for the Hitachi NEXT Series Air Compressor models DSP-45AT6N, DSP-55AT6N, DSP-75AT6N, DSP-55VATN, and DSP-75VATN is 100 psi (0.69 MPa) or 125 psi (0.86 MPa), depending on the model.
To reset the Hitachi NEXT Series Air Compressor, press the RESET button. This button is used to reset SHUTDOWN and ALARM screens. For emergency stops, after pressing the EMERGENCY STOP button, you can restart the compressor by turning the switch knob clockwise and pressing the RESET button. If a shutdown or alarm occurs, take the proper corrective action and then press the RESET button to clear the indication.
To reduce the noise level of the Hitachi NEXT Series Air Compressor, ensure enclosure panels are properly in place, as they lower the sound level of the air compressor package. When installing, avoid placing the air compressor near a wall, as this may cause the operating noise to resonate and increase noise levels. For air-cooled units, the low noise cooling fan cools the cooler and exhausts hot air, contributing to noise reduction during operation.
