When a valve is actuated, sample gas from that port is directed
through the manifold to the above 3/2 selector valve and hence to the
capillary assembly for sampling.
In the single inlet stream version, the six-way manifold is omitted
and the sample stream connects directly to the selector valve.

Calibration gases are required on a relatively infrequent basis and
can be costly. To avoid unnecessary usage, the calibration valve
assemblies are fitted with 2/2 valves such that calibration gas will
only flow when a valve is energized. The calibration assembly is a
manifold of six solenoid valves with the common outlet port
connected to the normally open port of the solenoid inlet selector
valve. The tubing material used for this connection is FEP which has
excellent chemical resistance and mechanical properties, is non-
porous and has very favourable adsorption and permeation
properties. The calibration manifold is fitted to the left-hand side of
All unused inlets must be fitted with blanks and sealed.
Gases from the manifold exhaust can enter the local
environment from an unsealed inlet port and will pose a
safety risk if the sample is toxic, corrosive, or an asphyxiant.
