5 Size Selection

► Measure the middle thigh circumference with a measuring tape and determine the correct
size according to the table.
The product is available in four sizes.

28L8=1
28L8=2
28L8=3
The size is ticked on the packaging and embossed on the inside of the leg positioning shell.
6 Handling
INFORMATION
► The daily duration of use and period of application are generally determined by the physi­
cian.
► The initial fitting and application of the product must be carried out by qualified personnel
according to the instructions of the treating physician.
► Consult a physician if any exceptional changes are noted (such as worsening of the com­
plaint).
6.1 Fitting and application
CAUTION
Incorrect application of the orthosis
Malposition of the legs, impairment of hip development
► Apply the orthosis properly.
Instruct the parents in the correct application of the product.

Inform the parents that changes to the product are not permitted.

CAUTION
Incorrect or excessively tight application
Risk of local pressure and constriction of blood vessels and nerves due to improper or excess­
ively tight application
► Ensure that the product is applied properly and fits correctly.
The hip abduction orthosis must be fitted by a physician or O&P professional. Instruct the
parents on how to handle the orthosis and provide them with the information for parents included
with the product.
Application
1) Position the hip abduction orthosis and trunk brace with open closures on a suitable surface.
2) Lay the child onto the crossed back straps of the trunk brace (see fig. 2).
3) Position the bent legs in the leg positioning shells. Pass the four hook-and-loop straps
through the strap guide loops and fasten them (see fig. 3).
4) Place the trunk brace over the child's shoulders (see fig. 4).
5) Fasten the chest strap (see fig. 5).
6) Pass the two straps of the shoulder harness through the clip fasteners one after the other, pull
them through to the marks made by the physician and fasten them.
