TRANSMISSION
Install Cover and Bolts
Cover Bolt Torque:
6- - 12 ft. lbs. (12- - 16 Nm)
30. Install a new bellcrank onto the shift shaft. Note
the keyed spline on the bellcrank and shaft.
Install the washer and nut. Torque the bellcrank
nut to 12--18 ft. lbs. (16--24 Nm).
Bellcrank Nut Torque:
12- - 18 ft. lbs. (16- - 24 Nm)
31. Install transmission and add Polaris Premium
Synthetic Gear Case Lubricant (PN 2871477) in
the
recommended
8.18
amount.

TROUBLESHOOTING

CHECKLIST
Check the following items when shifting difficulty is
encountered.

Idle speed adjustment
S
PVT alignment
S
Transmission oil type/quality
S
Transmission
adjustment (where applicable)
S
Engine torque
(where applicable)
S
Drive belt deflection
S
Loose fasteners on rod ends
S
Loose fasteners on selector box
S
Worn rod ends, clevis pins, or pivot
arm bushings
S
Linkage rod adjustment and rod end
positioning
S
Shift selector rail travel
S
*Worn, broken or damaged internal
transmission components
*NOTE: To determine if shifting difficulty or problem
is caused by an internal transmission problem, isolate
the transmission by disconnecting linkage rod from
transmission bellcrank. Manually select each gear
range at the transmission bellcrank, and test ride
vehicle. If it functions properly, the problem is outside
the transmission.
If transmission problem remains, disassemble
transmission and inspect all gear dogs for wear
(rounding), damage. Inspect all bearings, circlips,
thrust washers and shafts for wear.
