PROBLEM
Excessive breakage of guards
and knives.
Not cutting short enough in down
material.
Small strip of run down, uncut
material.
Forming poor or bunchy windrow.
*Adjust the flotation springs for proper flotation (32 kg) (70 lbs.) at push bar - 16 kg-23 kg (35 lbs.-50 lbs.)
in stony conditions.
SECTION 5 - TROUBLESHOOTING
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Cutting too low in stony condi-
tions.
Guards, knives, and hold-down
clips not properly aligned.
Header flotation too heavy for
stony fields.
Ground speed too high in stony
conditions.
Ground speed too fast.
Reel speed too slow.
Cutting height too high.
Tractor PTO speed too slow.
Down crop not picked up by reel.
Ground speed too fast.
Crowding of the uncut material.
Reel speed too slow.
Broken or bent knife section or
guard.
Tractor PTO speed too slow.
Incorrect windrow baffle adjust-
ment.

CORRECTION
Raise cutting height with adjust-
able skid shoes.*
Align guards and knives and
adjust hold-down clips so knife
assembly runs freely.
Adjust flotation springs to float
header with 16 kg-23 kg force (35
lbs.-50 lbs.).
Reduce ground speed.
Decrease ground speed.
Increase reel speed.
Lower cutting height with the
adjustable skid shoes.*
Maintain tractor PTO RPM. Do
not overspeed.
Move reel down and forward.
Decrease ground speed.
Do not crowd the uncut material.
Increase reel speed.
Replace or straighten knife sec-
tion or guard.
Maintain standard RPM on the
tractor PTO. Do not overspeed.
Raise baffle until no bunching
occurs.
