7.2 Installing/Removing the Top
Cover
When installing internal options, remove the top cover.

7.2.1 How to Remove the Top Cover

Open the rack door.

Turn off the server and all peripheral devices. Also unplug all power cables from
the server.

Unplug all cables (such as SCSI cables and LAN cables) from the server.

Touch a metal part of the server to discharge static electricity.

Loosen the screws that hold the server to the rack.

• Before installing/removing the top cover, turn off the server and all peripheral
devices. Also unplug all power cables from the server ( "1.4.3 Turning Off the
Server" (pg.33)). Failure to do so may cause electric shock.
• Use stabilizers to prevent the rack from tipping when installing the rack.
Pulling the server out of the rack without installing stabilizers may cause the
rack to tip over.
